“NAFCU’s Online Training program is very
well done! It contains great information at just the right level and length, and has been very effective for us. The information has also been useful as we develop a relatively new risk management function at Campus Federal. “

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do I purchase the program?
You can purchase it online at www.nafcu.org/training. Or you can contact our member services division for assistance at (800) 344-5580.
Do individual employees or officials have to sign up to use this training program?
No. Once you purchase the training program, NAFCU will provide your credit union with a username and password to access the training modules. (You’ll be able to change the username and password, should you wish.) Simply forward the web address, username and password to whomever you want to use the training. There’s no need to purchase individual licenses for everyone at your credit union.
How long does a subscription last?
You have access to the training program for one year following purchase. For example, if you purchase it on June 1, 2009, you can use it until June 1, 2010.
We’ll be using some of the group training programs for large groups. How can I receive handouts?
Handouts are built into each module. Start the module and click on the “attachments” icon in the upper right-hand corner. Then click on “Handouts” to access a printable handout. You can also click on “Transcript” to print a transcript of the training session, if you wish.
Must our volunteers take the test at the end of the individual training sessions?
No. There’s no explicit requirement for your volunteers to do so. However, the test is there in case your credit union wishes to use it. Once the volunteer/official takes the test, he or she should print out a copy of the test results. Or they can cut and paste the results and email them to the appropriate person at your credit union.
Some users of this program may be hearing impaired? Is there a transcript?
Yes. A transcript is built into each module. Start the module and click on the “attachments” icon in the upper right-hand corner. Then click on “Transcript” to access a printable transcript.
Can our members use the training programs?
I don’t see why not. For example, you may have someone who is interested in serving on a volunteer committee. They may have questions about credit unions, though. Feel free to give such persons access to the training sessions if you think it will help them. Again, use the training sessions to benefit your credit union as you see fit. Personally, I think many of the volunteer sessions could benefit credit union management.
How are the individual and group training programs different?
Individual training sessions allow the user to navigate back and forth within the presentation. The individual sessions also have interactive portions, as well as quizzes. The group sessions were designed for group settings. The screen is larger, the sessions move forward automatically, and there isn’t a quiz. You are able to print handouts and a transcript from both sessions, however.
What can we use to help us document this training to show examiners?
NAFCU has provided a detailed outline for each training session. All outlines are combined into one document. Simply keep this document on-hand should examiners want to know the breadth/scope of your training program. We also provide training “sign-in” sheets for both individual and group training modules. All of these documents can be downloaded form the “toolkit” section on the training module homepage.
The type size in the notes section is very small. What can we do?
Click on the handouts icon within the presentation you are viewing. You’ll be able to download a transcript that is much easier to read.
What is the volunteer training program based on?
With its 2006 Federal Credit Union Bylaws, NCUA noted its thoughts on volunteer training. It stated the following: “Federal credit unions must establish a policy to address training for newly elected and incumbent directors and volunteer officials, in areas such as ethics and fiduciary responsibility, regulatory compliance, and accounting.” The training program is designed to meet the letter and spirit of that guidance.
My password does not work. Can you help?
When your credit union purchased the NAFCU Training Program, it was able to select a username and password for use when logging into the program. Contact your credit union’s training coordinator to obtain this information. Or you may contact NAFCU’s Member Service Center at 800-344-5580 during regular business hours. (9 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. EST.)
Since there's only one user name and log-in, can more than 1 person at our credit union use the training program at the same time?
Yes. There's no limit regarding how many employees or officials can view modules at any one time.
