Welcome to NAFCU/PAC

NAFCU/PAC Solicitation Form

An essential element to the success of any national association’s lobbying efforts is contributing to the campaign funds of key federal legislators. Founded in 1976, NAFCU’s Political Action Committee (NAFCU/PAC), provides contributions to members of Congress and candidates who support legislation and other action favorable to credit unions.

NAFCU/PAC Questions and Answers

What is a federal political action committee?
An entity that contributes funds to candidates for federal office, as distinct from candidates for local or state elective office.

What is NAFCU/PAC?
Founded in 1976, NAFCU/PAC is NAFCU’s Political Action Committee. The goal of NAFCU/PAC is to help credit unions remain a powerful and influential political force.  NAFCU/PAC raises voluntary funds from the executives, volunteers and staff of NAFCU member credit unions for use as campaign contributions to political candidates at the federal level.  NAFCU/PAC is a major component of NAFCU’s lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill.

How does NAFCU/PAC work?
All contributions made to NAFCU/PAC go directly to federal candidates that support credit union issues.  None of the funds are used for administrative or other purposes.

Who is NAFCU/PAC?
Members of NAFCU/PAC are those individuals in NAFCU member credit unions from whom NAFCU/PAC is authorized to solicit personal contributions or from whom it receives a voluntary, unsolicited contribution.  Authorization is given for each calendar year through the Authorization for Solicitation form.

What is the Authorization for Solicitation form?
Under Federal Election Commission regulations, NAFCU/PAC may not ask for contributions from any individual unless the credit union has granted permission to do so.  This permission is granted by signing the Authorization for Solicitation form.  Signing the form allows NAFCU/PAC to further communicate with you concerning PAC activities, and to request a contribution.

What are the limitations on authorizing NAFCU/PAC solicitation?
A credit union may authorize solicitation by only one federal political action committee per calendar year.  The authorizing credit union must be a NAFCU member.

Why should I authorize solicitation and support to NAFCU/PAC?
Public policy decisions that elected officials make have a major impact on the credit union community.  Every segment of the credit union community is affected in some way by the actions of our elected representatives.  Often times these actions have a dramatic influence on credit unions’ economic prosperity and the financial well-being of credit union members.  By helping to elect candidates who hold constructive views on issues important to credit unions, NAFCU/PAC plays a valuable role in shaping the outcome of these decisions.

How does NAFCU/PAC raise funds?
NAFCU/PAC sponsors several exciting events throughout the year but before NAFCU can notify NAFCU members about these special PAC-sponsored activities, NAFCU/PAC must receive authorization for solicitation.
