NAFCU SERVICES UNVEILS TWO NEW VIDEOS ABOUT
FEDERALLY INSURED FUNDS AT LOCAL CREDIT UNIONS

WASHINGTON — NAFCU Services Corporation (www.nafcu.org/nafcuservices) today announced two new customizable video ads available for credit union use on TV/cable, online and in other venues to promote awareness of the safety of member funds at federally-insured credit unions. The ads can be viewed at www.nafcu.org/video-ads.

“Not all consumers realize that the federal government provides insurance on funds at credit unions of up to $250,000,” said David Frankil, president of NAFCU Services Corporation. “With these new free video ads, we hope to help credit unions send a message to both prospective and existing members that their money in a federally-insured credit union is safe, secure and backed by the full faith and credit of the federal government.”

“With the recent national media attention on the benefits of credit unions and with the success of campaigns like the Huffington Post’s ‘Move Your Money,’ it’s clear that people are looking for an alternative to their current financial institutions. We want to make sure our members have the tools to promote their institutions as a viable and optimal choice. These new video ads do exactly that,” he said.

NAFCU Services began offering free videos to NAFCU members in 2009. It has received requests for more than 250 versions of the standard and customized ads, with more requests coming in each week. The ads are used in marketing efforts by credit unions, including on Web sites, TV/cable, and in credit union lobbies and movie theaters.

The new ads were the result of a third national competition to develop commercials for credit unions.   The first two competitions proved very successful, resulting in eight winning video ads depicting the general benefits of joining a credit union and financing a home at a credit union. The competition was again implemented by GeniusRocket (www.geniusrocket.com), a firm that connects advertisers with creative professionals around the globe.

The competition received a wide variety of entries from freelancers. The two most compelling ads were selected by the NAFCU and NAFCU Services team. As with the other two competitions, the new ads are available to NAFCU members on a license- and royalty-free basis. The only potential cost is a set, one-time fee of $150 to customize the ads for an individual credit union (payable to the ad designer).
