NCR AND NAFCU SERVICES RELEASE FREE WEBCAST ON SEVEN SOCIAL MEDIA ABSOLUTES FOR CREDIT UNIONS

WASHINGTON — NAFCU Services Corporation (www.nafcu.org/nafcuservices) and NCR Corporation, the NAFCU Services Preferred Partner for ATMs and teller cash recyclers, today released a webcast outlining the “Seven Social Media Absolutes for Credit Unions.”

The free, 17-minute educational webcast is available online at www.nafcu.org/ncr.

Sundeep Kapur, the webcast’s expert and VP of strategic marketing for NCR eCommerce, shares his insight on the importance of engaging credit union members in dialogue and the need to enhance visibility through social media channels. “Because the channel is so new, credit unions are having trouble measuring the return of social media,” said Kapur. “This webcast aims to focus the credit union marketing manager’s time on efforts that will drive the biggest bang for their buck.”

The webcast discusses the benefits and common pitfalls of blogs, Twitter, communities, personas, pictures, video and people. For example, while many businesses have found uses for Twitter and “tweeting,” others have difficulty staying relevant to their Twitter audiences. “It’s easy for the person tweeting to digress into a personal dialogue, rather than to keep engaging followers in a way that is meaningful to the business,” said Kapur.

Mr. Kapur is slated to speak at NAFCU’s Strategic Growth Conference in March where he plans to lay out a one year framework for credit unions interested in adopting social media strategies for existing and prospective member engagement.

“Social media is a major new outreach channel with great potential,” said David Frankil, president, NAFCU Services Corporation. “Credit unions that are savvy about leveraging social media opportunities are seeing real results. Every credit union executive needs to stay informed about how social media can be used to create relationships with existing and prospective members.”
