NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz said her agency's Office of Inspector General is investigating the leak of examination information regarding DC FCU, which is run currently by Carla Decker, the president's nominee to replace Gigi Hyland on the NCUA Board.

Credit Union Times, which reported that information Tuesday on its website, also reported that Decker may be scheduled to testify before the Senate Banking Committee Nov. 17 on her nomination to the NCUA Board. If confirmed, her term would last through Aug. 2, 2017.

The leak of any federally insured credit union's examination information is illegal, NCUA said in a statement. The information is confidential and, under NCUA rules, may not be released by "officers, employees or agents of NCUA or any federally insured credit union," it stated. "This trust has been violated in the case of DC Federal Credit Union."

NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz said she is personally confident the information didn't come from her agency. "I have asked our Office of the Inspector General to fully investigate this issue, to determine which among the parties with access to the confidential examination information, whether NCUA or the credit union's board or management, took this illegal action," she said in a statement. "Once we have all the facts, we will determine what action is appropriate."
