Discounts end Wednesday for Oct. 5 webcast

Credit unions have until Wednesday to secure early registration discounts for NAFCU's Oct. 5 webcast, which will provide credit union board members and executives with a foundational understanding of Bank Secrecy Act compliance and overall risk management.

The webcast speaker will be Anthony Demangone, who is NAFCU's senior vice president and chief operating officer and the association's former vice president of regulatory compliance. He notes the vital importance of understanding risk management when thinking of Bank Secrecy Act compliance. "Too often, BSA trainers forget to tie the two together," said Demangone."Once you understand risk management, BSA compliance makes more sense."

During the Oct. 5 webcast, Demangone will discuss NCUA expectations for risk management, detail risks the agency's examiners tend to focus on and share strategies for managing such risks.

Regarding BSA, webcast participants will learn about the following:

  • money laundering and why criminals attempt it;
  • important concepts of the BSA regulatory system;
  • goals of the BSA regulatory system and the Office of Foreign Assets Control; and
  • risk management responsibilities of credit unions and boards.

Webcast participants can also purchase a CD of the live broadcast for use in board and supervisory committee training sessions.

Again, registration discounts for the Oct. 5 webcast end Wednesday. All NAFCU webcasts are open to both members and non-members.
