Feb. 23, 2012 – Michael Coleman has joined NAFCU as a regulatory compliance counsel and will assist member credit unions with their compliance issues and provide compliance content for NAFCU’s publications and the popular NAFCU Compliance Blog.
He will also address regulatory topics at NAFCU events, including the Regulatory Compliance School and Regulatory Compliance Seminar.
“Mike brings considerable financial and legal experience to NAFCU, and we are certain he will further enhance our already outstanding regulatory compliance program,” NAFCU President and CEO Fred Becker said.
Prior to joining NAFCU, Coleman was a legal counsel and tax advisor for the Federated States of Micronesia in the Department of Finance and Administration, where he advised the Secretary of Finance on all legal matters, primarily those involving national tax laws and regulations. He is licensed to practice law in the Federated States of Micronesia and the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has also served a law clerk for the Senate Judiciary Committee.
He holds a law degree from George Mason University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Virginia.
