Becker meets with CFPB's Petraeus

July 20, 2012 – NAFCU President and CEO Fred Becker and Quincy Enoch, the association's associate director of legislative affairs and military liaison, met yesterday with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Office of Servicemember Affairs Director Holly Petraeus and her staff to discuss financial issues facing military families.

The meeting focused on two key issues: how to increase savings and the provision of small-dollar loan products to servicemembers and their families. The group also discussed general financial services concerns of servicemembers and the issues the CFPB is tackling to address those.

Petraeus's office is working with financial regulators, all branches of the military and federal antifraud offices to ensure the needs of servicemembers are addressed.

Credit unions serving military servicemembers will hear about the latest developments affecting their memberships during NAFCU's Defense Credit Union Summit, scheduled July 24 in conjunction with the Annual Conference and Exhibition in Nashville, Tenn.
