Becker previews AC opportunities on CUbroadcast

July 16, 2012 – NAFCU President and CEO Fred Becker, in an interview that aired July 12 on CUbroadcast.com, touted the many opportunities that await credit unions at NAFCU's 45th Annual Conference and Exhibition July 24-28 in Nashville, Tenn.

In the 10-minute segment, Becker provided CUbroadcast's Mike Lawson with an overview of what attendees can expect from the conference.

Keynote speakers include Stephen Dubner, bestselling co-author of "Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything," and Tim Harrington, president of T.E.A.M. Resources, a strategic planning and training company for financial institutions. Harrington will discuss what credit unions can learn from the leadership methods of President Dwight Eisenhower to foster success. Complimentary, autographed copies of Harrington's new book, "Eisenhower on Enlightened Leadership," will be available to attendees.

Becker also previewed remarks he will be making as one the conference's general session speakers. He told Lawson that he will focus on how successful credit unions are today, even as the operating environment continues to be challenging. Becker said he will be highlighting specific examples of how credit unions are finding success, including NAFCU members that are using technology to effectively reach the Gen Y demographic.

Other speakers will include representatives from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and NCUA. Some of the program highlights this year include NAFCU's first-ever Women's Leadership Summit, a panel discussion among members of the Credit Union Economics Group, the annual Defense Credit Union Summit and more.

Becker said conference is aimed at providing attendees information and tools they can apply to their own credit unions.
