FinCEN inundated with BSA e-file activity
July 9, 2012 – The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network is working to resolve problems arising from extremely high usage of its Bank Secrecy Act E-Filing System, which may include difficulties for depository institutions trying to submit required reports or reach FinCEN by phone.
All depository institutions were required to begin using the BSA E-Filing System July 2. FinCEN says that system and the E-Filing Help Desk are experiencing extremely high usage. "This may result in intermittent delays in a filer's ability to submit required reports or complete the on-line application process for a new BSA E-Filing System account," FinCEN says in a statement posted to its website. " It said callers into the Help Desk may experience extended hold times and that FinCEN callers may receive busy signals.
FinCEN says it's working to resolve these issues. Meanwhile, those having trouble getting through on the phone can submit their questions or issues by email. Messages should include full contact information, including a return phone number; FinCEN says it "will make every effort to respond to your issues in a timely manner."
