July 27, 2012 – Credit union staff and volunteers participating in NAFCU's Annual Conference and Exhibition in Nashville, Tenn., this week turned their attention Thursday to the needs of the conference host city's homeless children as part of Project Night Night.

The program involved filling tote bags with comfort items every child can enjoy – a stuffed animal, a blanket and a book. NAFCU, Co-Op Financial, Affinion and Vantiv sponsored the bags. Conference attendees walked through the Exhibition hall to fill the bags, which are being delivered this morning.

"Giving back to Nashville is a natural extension of the community spirit of credit unions," said NAFCU Director of Events and Education Lisa Cox. "NAFCU is proud to have the opportunity to use our conference as a means to support Nashville's homeless children. Project Night Night is such a wonderful way to help children who are facing extremely tough times."

Based in San Francisco, Calif., Project Night Night is an innovative not-for-profit organization that annually equips 25,000 homeless children across the country with the basic nighttime essentials they need to feel safe, warm, ready to learn and valued. The project also sets a foundation for lasting change by providing meaningful, hands-on volunteer opportunities to thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations each year.
