March 20, 2012 – More than 150 registrants attended NAFCU's Regulatory Compliance School last week at National Harbor, Md., and 90 of them took the examinations required to receive their designations as NAFCU Certified Compliance Officers.

The Regulatory Compliance School provides on-site instruction in every aspect of federal regulation for credit union operations. It covers consumer financial services rules, federal credit union operations and governance rules; laws underlying the rules, including the E-Sign Act and the more recent Dodd-Frank Act; the Uniform Commercial Code; and basics of good business practice.

This year's school offered a new program focused on the structure and authorities of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. There was also a new, two-hour session on Regulation Z and its many iterations over the years. In addition, this year's school participants received early access to NAFCU's updated Credit Union Compliance GPS.

NCCOs must recertify every two years by earning 24 continuing education units or retaking the exams. For more, read about the NCCO program.

Starting today, all credit unions can purchase the Compliance GPS; read more here.
