Sept. 5, 2012 – NCUA, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Justice Department and five other federal agencies are hosting an online discussion Sept. 10 on servicemember financial protection guidance and compliance issues related to the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.
Sandy Braunstein, director of the Federal Reserve’s Division of Consumer and Community Affairs, will provide welcoming remarks. Holly Petraeus, assistant director for Servicemember Affairs at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, will begin the presentation with an overview of servicemember financial protection.
Additional speakers from the Fed, the CFPB, NCUA, Justice, Department of Treasury, Federal Housing Finance Agency, FDIC and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency will discuss their agencies’ roles in servicemember financial protection. Discussion topics will include:
- permanent change of station guidance;
- enhancements to the Home Affordable Mortgage Program;
- short sale assistance for military homeowners;
- recent enforcement actions;
- SCRA compliance tips.
The Sept. 10 webinar is set for 2:30-4 p.m. Eastern. Participation is free, but registration is required.
