Sept. 18, 2012 – The agency’s donation of new laptop computers to 14 small credit unions under its “greeNCUA” environmental initiative will enable the institutions to file their call reports electronically beginning this October, the agency said last week.

NCUA’s Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives identified small credit unions earlier this year that file their reports on paper. It offered those interested with computers so they can file the reports online. NCUA said the computers will also help these 14 institutions, each having less than $10 million in assets, modernize operations.

“We’re constantly seeking opportunities to give small credit union managers the tools, training, support, and resources needed to improve efficiency and aid in the economic viability of their institutions,” said NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz. “These donations are part of NCUA’s efforts to eliminate paper Call Report filings in 2013. It’s a smarter, greener way to do business, and one that will enhance the calculation of the industry’s quarterly performance statistics.”
