Countdown to Caucus: Vitter and McHenry to speak
Aug. 23, 2013 – Sen. David Vitter, R-La., has joined the list of speakers for NAFCU’s Congressional Caucus – two and a half weeks away.
Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., has also joined the schedule for Caucus, which takes place Sept. 8-11 at Washington’s Mayflower Renaissance Hotel. Vitter serves on the Senate Banking Committee and the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. McHenry is Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee in the House Financial Services Committee, and has held hearings on the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act and advocated for Congressional oversight of the CFPB.
Vitter and McHenry join several prominent speakers scheduled for the week, including: Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., Financial Crimes Enforcement Network Deputy Director Frederick Reynolds, NCUA Board Member Michael Fryzel and Fannie Mae President and CEO Timothy Mayopolous. Paul Begala, noted political analyst and columnist, will give the keynote address.

Credit union representatives attending this year’s Caucus will attend three days of general sessions on key issues facing the industry – among them the credit union federal income tax exemption, regulatory relief and housing finance reform – and will be discussing their concerns about those issues with lawmakers in their Capitol Hill offices.
