NAFCU updates resources for Caucus
Aug. 30, 2013 – NAFCU has updated its online overview of the latest news surrounding the credit union tax exemption, with emphasis on the outreach the association has done on behalf of the exemption.
The page now features a box of resources to help NAFCU members take action in support of the tax exemption, including updated links to NAFCU editorials and comment letters, as well as information about the latest developments in tax reform.
It also highlights the exemption’s benefits as shown by the independent study commissioned by NAFCU last year, which said the exemption results in $10 billion in economic benefits, annually, for all Americans. The page also goes into the background of the tax exemption’s origins and its value to consumers.
The federal income tax exemption is just one of the issues that credit union supporters will join to promote during NAFCU’s Congressional Caucus in a week. Caucus will take place Sept. 8-11 at Washington’s Mayflower Renaissance Hotel, and features a slate of prominent speakers including keynoter Paul Begala, and several lawmakers from both sides of the aisle.
Credit union representatives attend three days of general sessions on key issues facing the industry – among them the tax exemption, regulatory relief and housing finance reform – and will be discussing their concerns about those issues with lawmakers in their Capitol Hill offices. Members and nonmembers may register.
