Hunt: Recovery to mitigate assessment needs
Dec. 11, 2013 – NAFCU Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt, in a BankTracker report, said continued economic recovery should lessen any need for future assessments for corporate stabilization.
The report quotes Hunt citing noting that an end to these assessments, coupled with continued loan growth, should help credit unions' bottom lines.
Hunt, in the article, also says the ongoing trend of consolidation in the industry has yet to reach its end. The report draws on the 2013 NAFCU Report on Credit Unions, which notes challenges especially for smaller credit unions if loan growth doesn't pick up.
