Regulatory Compliance School planning in full swing

Dec. 4, 2013- Credit union professionals will acquire the knowledge necessary to master the latest industry rules and compliance guidelines during NAFCU's 2014 Regulatory Compliance School, slated March 10-15 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.

NAFCU is close to filling out the week-long program for the 2014 school, which is open to NAFCU members and nonmembers. Early registration discounts are in effect through Jan. 17.

"Now more than ever, it is essential that credit unions have a solid understanding of up-to-date regulations and laws that they must adhere to," said JiJi Bahhur, NAFCU director of regulatory compliance and NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO). "The School will be a vital resource for credit unions handling any new compliance changes that arise in this increasingly complex regulatory environment."

In addition to Bahhur, attendees will hear from NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger; Director of Regulatory Affairs Mike Coleman, NCCO; Senior Regulatory Compliance Counsel Bernadette Clair, NCCO; and other leading compliance experts in the credit union industry.

The 2014 school will cover a wide range of topics, including the Federal Credit Union Bylaws, NCUA lending regulations, the Truth in Lending Act and Regulation Z, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act and Regulation X, and more.

Additional program highlights include:

  • an entire day devoted to regulatory updates;
  • the chance to earn an NCCO designation;
  • free access to NAFCU's 2013 Credit Union Compliance GPSelectronic manual upon registration (plus advance access to the 2014 version, included as part of the registration fee); and
  • access to a new network of credit union professionals and compliance officers.
