CBO rep to testify on budget, economy

Feb. 21, 2013 – Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf is set to testify next Tuesday before the Senate Finance Committee on the budget and economic outlook over the next decade.

NAFCU is monitoring all discussions on the Hill and within the administration for indications of future fiscal actions that could have an impact on credit unions' federal corporate income tax exemption. The association is working with preservation of the exemption as its top legislative priority.

The Feb. 26 hearing will also include testimony from Robert Greenstein, president of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and Douglas Holtz-Eakin,, president of the American Action Forum.

Holtz-Eakin appeared before NAFCU's Congressional Caucus in 2008, when he was chief policy advisor to Republican presidential hopeful John McCain.
