Lew scheduled to testify on Treasury nomination

Feb. 11, 2013 – White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew is scheduled to testify Wednesday morning before the Senate Finance Committee on his nomination to succeed Tim Geithner as next Treasury secretary.

Geithner left the Treasury post in late January. For now, Neal Wolin is filling the role of acting Treasury secretary. He has had the position of deputy Treasury secretary since May 2009.

NAFCU President and CEO Fred Becker met with Lew last May during a cooperative summit at the White House. Lew called credit unions an important source of capital for small businesses.

Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., and Senate Banking Chairman Tim Johnson, D-S.D., issued statements in support of Lew's nomination.
