Poliquin named NCUA Board secretary

July 29, 2013 – Gerard Poliquin was named secretary of the NCUA Board by Chairman Debbie Matz following the retirement of Mary Rupp.

"We're pleased to welcome Jerry to this position," Matz said in a statement Friday. "He brings a solid background in the agency, and I'm confident he will continue the excellent work we've come to expect from those who serve as Board Secretary." Concerning Rupp, Matz added, "Mary has shown a remarkable commitment to NCUA and to her work. We're grateful for all she has done here and for upholding high standards in public service. We'll miss her, and we wish her a long and happy retirement."

Poliquin joined the agency in 1996 and most recently served as a senior trial attorney. Prior to working with NCUA, he served as an enforcement attorney at the Office of Thrift Supervision. He holds a Master of Laws from Boston University and a law degree from Seattle University.
