March 13, 2013 – Credit unions that continue to innovate will gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace, keynote speaker Dr. Joseph Michelli told attendees at NAFCU’s 2013 Strategic Growth Conference on Tuesday.

Michelli, an organizational psychologist, kicked off the three-day conference with a message about staying ahead of the competition through a commitment to innovate. He outlined a series of action items that credit unions can apply to achieve success in spurring innovation.

Tuesday’s activities also featured a networking lunch and education sessions on credit union mortgage lending, Small Business Administration loan programs, the paperless future of credit unions and top credit union performance metrics.

Today’s conference activities include part one of the two-day session, “Leveraging the Power of Integrated Media Workshop.” Led by Sundeep Kapur, NCR’s integrated media strategist, the workshop will educate attendees on defining best practices in digital channels, navigating different types of online media and how to develop an integrated media blueprint for their credit union.

Wednesday’s activities will also include a breakfast panel discussion on how credit unions can convert their websites into ecommerce sites and education sessions on prepaid cards, purchasing banks; and lunch and education session on passion and purpose in business development.

The conference concludes Thursday.
