March 11, 2013 – Credit unions that participate in NAFCU’s webcast on Wednesday will gain a better understanding of board of director fundamentals, including board selection, training, evaluation and logistical issues.

The webcast, “An Inside Guide to A Credit Union’s Board of Directors,” will be led by John Gorman and Richard Garabedian, partners with the firm Luse Gorman Pomerenk & Schick P.C. The webcast will focus on a range of issues relating to a credit union’s board, including chairman selection, how to train and evaluate board members, board composition and term limits, independence requirements and testing, board committee structure, information dissemination, and document retention.

Participants will also gain insights into the board member development and election process, and how to conduct efficient and effective board meetings.

The webcast runs from 2-3:30 p.m. Eastern. Participation is open to all credit unions. Register today.

Credit unions can also learn more about board of director functions and responsibilities by attending NAFCU’s Credit Union Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee Conference, slated May 15-17 in Asheville, N.C., and NAFCU’s 46th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo, held July 9-13 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Both conferences offer board members the opportunity to earn BSA training certificates of attendance for participating.
