Senate Banking to vote on Yellen Thursday

The president's nomination of Janet Yellen as the next chair of the Federal Reserve Board is slated for voting by the Senate Banking Committee Thursday – action that, presuming passage, could quickly be followed by a vote of the full Senate.

The committee's vote on Yellen, currently the Fed's vice chair, will be followed by a hearing on housing finance reform ("Powers and Structure of a Strong Regulator"), with witnesses from the Federal Housing Finance Agency, FDIC, state regulators and, among others, the Housing Policy Council of the Financial Services Roundtable.

The Senate Banking Subcommittee on National Security and International Trade and Finance will hear testimony today on virtual currency. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network Director Jennifer Shaky Calvery is among the hearing witnesses.

On Friday, the full committee holds a hearing on planning a smooth transition for housing finance reform.

Today's full committee hearing on "Fundamentals of Transferring Credit Risk in a Future Housing Finance System" is postponed, the committee announced.
