FFIEC agencies tout cybersecurity awareness
Oct. 4, 2013 – The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, noting its support for Cybersecurity Awareness Month, encouraged financial institutions to work through public-private partnerships such as the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council to ensure preparedness for a cyber attack.
NAFCU is a member of the FSSCC, which also works with the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center on cybersecurity matters affecting the nation’s financial sector.
Comptroller of the Currency Tom Curry, FFIEC’s chairman, said the council “will continue to coordinate through its Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Working Group with law enforcement, the Department of Homeland Security, and industry” to help institutions identify vulnerabilities and prepare for increased risks of cyber attacks.”
NAFCU attended a high-level FSSCC briefing of financial industry leaders last week on the need to prepare for the next cyber attack. It will address cybersecurity matters in upcoming conferences and meetings, including the 2014 Technology and Security Conference.
Slated Feb. 11-13 in Las Vegas, the Technology and Security Conference will address financial fraud trends, core processing issues and crisis management. Corporate data privacy expet John Sileo is the keynote speaker. Registration discounts are in effect until Nov. 15.
