NAFCU testifies Nov. 5 on housing finance
Oct. 30, 2013 – Apple FCU’s John Harwell will testify on behalf of NAFCU on housing finance reform during a Nov. 5 Senate Banking Committee hearing, “Protecting Small Lender Access to the Secondary Mortgage Market.”
Harwell, associate vice president of risk management at his credit union, will urge lawmakers to support a NAFCU-backed government guarantee on secondary market access for credit unions in connection with any housing finance reform package; and fair pricing based on the quality of loan underwriting, not volume.
Harwell will testify on a panel of five witnesses. The other four are from the Federal Home Loan Bank of DesMoines; Independent Community Bankers of America; CUNA; and Mortgage Bankers Association.
