Senate fails to advance Watt nomination
Oct. 31, 2013 – After failing to garner enough votes to proceed, the president's nomination to confirm Rep. Mel Watt, D-N.C., as the new director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency failed to advance in the Senate.
The Senate voted 56 to 42 on the motion to proceed; at least 60
affirmative votes were required to proceed.
Watt was nominated to the FHFA post by President
