Antonakes named CFPB deputy director
Sept. 5, 2013 – The CFPB announced on Wednesday that Steve Antonakes, formerly the acting deputy director of the bureau, has been officially named the deputy director.
CFPB Director Richard Cordray said Antonakes “has adeptly led – and will continue to lead – our supervision, enforcement, and fair lending teams.” He added, “Steve’s experience, his knowledge, and his judgment are vital in helping us achieve our mission of fostering a thriving sustainable marketplace for both consumers and responsible businesses.”
Antonakes will also continue to serve as associate director for supervision, enforcement and fair lending. He has worked at the CFPB since 2010 and previously served as commissioner of banks in Massachusetts.
