Hunt, via Web, updates MidFlorida CU on issues

Sept. 30, 2013- NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt on Saturday gave an online talk about the current political climate and key issues affecting credit unions before the board planning meeting of MidFlorida CU in Lakeland, Fla.

Hunt's presentation included a look at the legislative process and some of the most pressing legislative and regulatory concerns credit unions are currently facing.

On the legislative side, Hunt discussed the latest developments on tax reform and efforts to preserve the credit union tax exemption, regulatory relief, housing finance reform and member business lending. On the regulatory side, she discussed the latest in merchants' lawsuit challenging the Federal Reserve's debit interchange rule, CFPB's qualified mortgage rule, NCUA's loan participation regulation and the Federal Housing Finance Agency's qualified mortgage standard.

Katie Marisic, NAFCU's vice president of political affairs, updated the board and executives of DVA FCU in Washington Friday.
