NAFCU releases new leadership book

Aug. 1, 2014 – NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger and Executive Vice President and COO Anthony Demangone aim to help the next generation of credit union leaders with the launch of their new book, “Managing and Leading Well: It Ain’t Rocket Science, But It’s Still Hard Work!”

The authors acknowledge that “Managing and Leading Well” was inspired by their conversations with credit union CEOs who told them consistently that they want more leadership training and management development for their teams, with some even mentioning a “leadership deficit” within the industry. “They’re looking for that edge that will help them lead more efficiently, inspire greater teamwork and take their credit unions to new heights, and in turn, make the credit union industry even stronger,” the authors say.   

According to Berger and Demangone, today’s fiercely competitive marketplace requires those who oversee credit unions to be at the top of their management game.  “Our book equips you with practical information and timeless wisdom to confidently face your toughest challenges head on.”

The authors highlight ways to help credit union managers lead their employees efficiently to create winning teams. For example, they detail the basic principles of change management and how they can help their credit unions be more innovative and forward thinking.

Attendees at NAFCU’s 2014 Management and Leadership Institute, Oct. 6-10 in Philadelphia, will receive a free copy of “Managing and Leading Well.” The deadline for early registration savings of $100 for NAFCU members and nonmembers is Aug. 7. The book and its content will also be used in NAFCU’s OnlineTraining Center.
