Hearings eye bank holding company support, Fed QE

Jan. 8, 2013 – A Senate Banking subcommittee will hear testimony today on a Government Accountability Office report that examines government support of bank holding companies.

The hearing, set for 10 a.m. Eastern, is being held by the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection, chaired by Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio. Witnesses are from GAO and the business schools at University of Chicago, MIT, Southern Methodist University and Carnegie Mellon University.

Tomorrow, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade will hear from think tanks and academia on the international impacts of the Federal Reserve's quantitative easing program. The subcommittee is chaired by Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Mich.
