Webcast on TCPA rules available on demand

Jan. 9, 2014 – A NAFCU webcast offering an overview of new Telephone Consumer Protection Act rules affecting telemarketing calls is available on demand now, by itself or as part of this year's unlimited webcast subscription package.

The TCPA rules webcast, held Tuesday, had some technical difficulties during live streaming, but the complete version is available on demand.

During the program, credit union attorney Andy Keeney gave participants a summary of the new TCPA requirement for prior written consent, including what constitutes consent and the specific language that must be used in a consent agreement. He also discussed recordkeeping requirements and discussed the basics of class action suits.

Keeney is a partner in Kaufman & Canoles, and a nationally recognized speaker who currently serves as general counsel for numerous credit unions. He spoke at NAFCU's Regulatory Compliance Seminar last October in Nashville.

The new TCPA rules took effect Oct. 16 after the Federal Communications Commission amended the rules implementing the act to further restrict telemarketing calls to mobile phones.

Interested participants can subscribe now and get access to this and all of the other webcasts for 2014. NAFCU's on-demand webcasts are available for up to 12 months after the live broadcast and are included in the registration fee.
