CU issues focus of NAFCU-HUD meeting today

July 18, 2014 – NAFCU staff will meet with key policy officials at the Department of Housing and Urban Development today to discuss some of the top issues affecting the credit union industry.

NAFCU staff attending the meeting include Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt, Director of Regulatory Affairs Mike Coleman, Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler, and Regulatory Affairs Counsel Angela Meyster. The discussion will cover the latest news for the credit union industry, government-sponsored enterprise reform and mortgage issues.

On July 9, San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro was approved by the Senate to be HUD secretary by a vote of 71-26. The next day, the Senate voted 75-22 to approve the nomination of current HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan to the head post at the Office of Management and Budget.

Also today, Coleman will attend a commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Federal Housing Administration.
