July 11, 2014 – The Senate yesterday voted 75-22 to approved the nomination of Shaun Donovan, currently Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, to be director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Thursday's action clears the way for Donovan to be seated at OMB and for Julián Castro, San Antonio's mayor, to replace him as HUD Secretary. Castro's nomination was confirmed by the Senate Wednesday.
NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger extended congratulations to Donovan. "We look forward to working with Mr. Donovan and OMB to help advance regulatory relief for credit unions and the benefits credit unions provide to the nation's economy," he added.
Donovan will replace Sylvia Mathews Burwell, who left the OMB director's pose when she moved to the Department of Health and Human Services.
