DeMarco to leave FHFA

March 25, 2014 – The Federal Housing Finance Agency announced its previous acting director, Edward DeMarco, will leave the agency at the end of April.

DeMarco did not make an announcement regarding future plans. He served as the agency's acting director from 2009 until January 2014, when current Director Mel Watt was sworn in.

Watt stated, "Ed has been an invaluable asset to FHFA and I appreciate his assistance to me during this transitional period. Throughout his 28-year career as a public servant he has made many important public policy contributions grounded in his strong background in housing finance. I wish him the very best in his future endeavors."

DeMarco previously served as both chief operating officer and deputy director of the agency's predecessor, the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight. He also previously served at the Social Security Administration, the Treasury Department and the General Accounting Office.
