CFPB consumer finance research conference in May

CFPB announced it will hold its first research conference focusing on consumer finance May 7-8 in Washington, D.C.

The bureau invited the submission of research on the following:

  • how consumers make decisions on borrowing, saving and financial risk-taking;
  • how forms of credit such as credit cards, mortgages and student loans affect households;
  • the structures of consumer financial markets; and
  • underserved populations.

The bureau said it would accept complete papers as well as detailed abstracts with preliminary results.

The call for papers said, "A deliberate aim of the conference is to connect the core community of consumer finance researchers and policymakers with the best research being conducted across the wide range of disciplines and approaches that can inform the topic." The bureau said it hoped to receive submissions reflecting the fields of economics, behavioral science, cognitive science and psychology.
