Financial Services subcommittee chairmen named

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, yesterday announced his selection of chairmen to lead the financial services subcommittees in the 114th Congress.

The subcommittee chairmen will be as follows:

  • Rep. Scott Garrett, R-N.J., chairman of the Capital Markets and Government-Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee;
  • Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, chairman of the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee;
  • Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Mo., chairman of the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee;
  • Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Mich., chairman of the Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee; and
  • Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wis., chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. (This subcommittee is currently chaired by Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., who will serve as chief deputy whip to Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., in the next Congress.)

In his statement, Hensarling said he looks "forward to working alongside my colleagues to pass laws that help grow the economy from Main Street up, not Washington down. Our committee will continue to focus on promoting sensible solutions that help create jobs and hold both Washington and Wall Street accountable to the American people."

The House this week has been announcing its leadership teams for the 114th Congress that begins in January. The Senate also announced members of the leadership teams last week.
