FTC-CFPB debt collection roundtable Thursday

The Federal Trade Commission and CFPB on Thursday will co-host an all-day roundtable discussion in Long Beach, Calif., on how debt collection and credit reporting issues affect Latino consumers.

The roundtable, "Debt Collection & the Latino Community," will include consumer advocates, industry representatives, state and federal regulators and academics. Sessions will address: pre-litigation debt collection from Latino consumers, the experience of Latinos with limited English proficiency in debt collection litigation, credit reporting issues among such persons and developing improved strategies for educating and engaging them about their debt collection rights.

Thursday's roundtable is free and open to the public. To pre-register, send the attendee's name, affiliation and email address to FTC by email, to Pre-registerRT@ftc.gov. The event will also be webcast live on FTC's website.
