CFPB forum Oct. 8 on checking accounts

CFPB will hold a forum in Washington Oct. 8 on how checking account screening policies and practices affect consumers' ability to acquire and use checking account products.

Set to begin at 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Eastern, the discussion "will inform the dialogue around how the screening system works and how to improve the availability of information and products for consumers," the bureau said in a notice. It will generally address the availability to consumers of financial products and services, CFPB said.

CFPB Director Richard Cordray will give remarks. Other speakers will be drawn from consumer groups, federal and local government officials and industry representatives.

This event is open to the public, but RSVP is required to attend. RSVP here and note any accommodations needed.
