Economic & CU Monitor survey deadline today

Today is the deadline for NAFCU members to submit responses to the association's current Economic & CUMonitor survey, which asks about members' experience with data security breaches and what precautions they have taken.

The survey includes questions about distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks, phishing scams and retailer data security breaches, including the recent Home Depot breach. The questions also cover the online authentication process and how frequently respondents require their members to change passwords. Respondents are also asked about the National Institute of Standards and Technology's cybersecurity guidance and whether they have fraud concerns that are specific to mobile banking services.

NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger wrote to President Obama last week to urge support for legislative action on a national data security standard for retailers, which the association has pushed for since the massive Target data breach last year.

NAFCU's research and analysis team reports on survey responses in the Economic & CU Monitor, which gives NAFCU members a glimpse of trends affecting the credit union industry as a whole. Survey results are used in NAFCU's advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and with regulatory agencies such as NCUA, CFPB and the Federal Reserve.

Members can fill out the survey online or email their responses to research@nafcu.org.
