NAFCU launches new CU Operating Expense Report

NAFCU has launched its first quarterly CU Operating Expense Report, which is based on the latest NCUA 5300 quarterly call report data and provides each NAFCU member credit union an analysis of its non-interest expense.

"With the increasingly competitive marketplace, credit unions are more interested than ever in tracking their expenses and assessing how they stand within their peer groups," said Long. "This report offers unique member data that allows credit unions to monitor their expenses and demonstrate to their boards and members how they are keeping expenses in check."

The Operating Expense Report shows:

  • annual and quarterly operating expense trends;
  • percentile ranking against other credit unions;
  • peer group average comparison; and
  • contributions to a member credit union's total operating expense.

The NAFCU CU Operating Expense Report is produced quarterly by the association's research team, led by NAFCU Chief Economist and Director of Research Curt Long. It is provided as a benefit of NAFCU membership.

Members can send an email to research@nafcu.org with any questions about the report.
