NCUA grant round for LICUs ends March 3

Low-income credit unions still have a few days – until March 3 – to apply for the first 2015 round of grants for staff training and internships from NCUA's Community Development Revolving Loan Fund.

NCUA said it would provide at least $360,000 in funding for the first grant round, which will cover as many as 100 low-income credit unions. Up to $4,000 would be available for each internship program, and up to $3,000 would be available for each staff or volunteer training program. Eligible credit unions may apply for both initiatives.

The fund is administered through the NCUA Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives. Congress allocated the CDRLF $2 million for fiscal year 2015; this is an increase which returns funding to 1999 levels.

Currently, 2,098 credit unions have NCUA's low-income designation. Credit unions can apply online here.
