Fazio in NAFCU webcast today on MBL

Larry Fazio, the director of NCUA's Office of Examination and Insurance and the architect of the proposed member business lending rule, will speak about the proposal during a NAFCU webcast today at 2 p.m. Eastern.

The proposed rule would eliminate the MBL waiver process and allow credit unions to decide if borrowers should be exempt from personal guarantees. Attendees may submit questions to both Fazio and the webcast's moderator, NAFCU Director of Regulatory Affairs Alicia Nealon.

The webcast will focus on how the proposal, which was issued during the NCUA Board's June 18 meeting, will impact current commercial lending as well as future programs.

NAFCU has advocated for MBL reform and supports the proposal, but remains concerned about NCUA's initial estimates on how much the agency will spend to implement the rule. NAFCU also continues to push for broader MBL changes that would allow more credit unions to be exempt from the MBL cap.
