Easterling is NAFCU's next Region I director

Gary Easterling, CEO of United Federal Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich., is the outright winner in NAFCU's Region I director election and will take his board post following the close of the association's annual business meeting this June in Montreal.

Easterling was the only candidate to be nominated or to receive at least five nominating ballots (a requirement under NAFCU's bylaws). In June, he will succeed Mike Parsons, who will have completed his third consecutive three-year term, the maximum permitted by NAFCU's bylaws.

Still ahead is the election to fill two at-large seats open in this year's voting. The slate of at-large candidates includes:

  • Issa Stephan (First Financial Federal Credit Union, N.J.)
  • Robert Fisher (Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, Fla.);
  • James Quinn (Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Va.);
  • Mark Lesnau (North Carolina Community Federal Credit Union, N.C.);
  • Edmond Jordan (Essential Federal Credit Union, formally Dow Louisiana Federal Credit Union, La.); and
  • Debra Schwartz (Mission Federal Credit Union, Calif.).

Schwartz is an incumbent at-large director running for reelection. At-Large Director Cutler Dawson (Navy Federal Credit Union, Va.) this year will complete his third consecutive three-year term.

Official ballots for voting in the at-large election will be sent on April 6.
