GSEs record 3.4M foreclosure prevention actions

FHFA announced that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had completed a total of 3.4 million foreclosure prevention actions since the beginning of their conservatorship in 2008, helping nearly 2.8 million borrowers remain in their homes.

The agency said the actions also helped 1.8 million borrowers receive permanent loan modifications. In the fourth quarter of 2014, the government-sponsored enterprises completed almost 65,900 foreclosure prevention actions.

In the agency's fourth quarter Foreclosure Prevention Report, it also said the number of 60+ day delinquent loans declined by 3 percent to the lowest level since the beginning of the conservatorship. Also, the serious delinquency rate for Fannie and Freddie loans fell to 1.9 percent at the end of the year.
