NAFCU stays vigilant during tax reform discussion

Neither witnesses nor committee members made any mention of credit unions or their federally tax-exempt status during a brief Senate Finance Committee hearing held Tuesday on tax "fairness."

The hearing was part of a series of expected hearings on the the federal tax code and potential reforms.

NAFCU lobbyists do not expect the credit union tax exemption to come under threat but remain vigilant on the issue. Preserving the exemption remains NAFCU's top legislative priority.

The committee heard testimony on tax reform yesterday from representatives of the Lindsey Group, the Atlas Network, the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, and Willettt Advisors, LLC.
