National Consumer Protection Week underway

National Consumer Protection Week is underway, and NCUA, the Department of Justice and other federal and state regulators are encouraging consumers to know their rights and make better-informed decisions.

"Credit unions keep consumer protection as a top priority year-round," said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger. "This week is a great opportunity for credit unions to reach out to their members and nonmembers to highlight the benefits of their services."

Consumers can use CULookup.com, NAFCU's credit union locator website, to find a credit union near them.

NCUA on Monday reminded credit union members about the resources available on its website, MyCreditUnion.gov, to ensure they understand their rights on issues such as privacy, fraud, credit scores and identity theft.

National Consumer Protection Week runs through Saturday.
