ABA names new CEO Rob Nichols

Rob Nichols is the new president and CEO of the American Bankers Association, the group announced Wednesday.

Nichols is currently the president and CEO of the Financial Services Forum. He previously served as assistant secretary for public affairs at the Treasury Department and as communications director for the Electronics Industries Alliance.

ABA Board Chairman John Ikard said, "We sought a visionary, strategic leader with demonstrated public policy acumen, a keen understanding of the entirety of the banking and financial system, and a strong record of both strategic management and bipartisan advocacy. Rob Nichols hits the mark on all counts."

NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger responded in a statement, "We congratulate Rob on his new position as the incoming CEO for the ABA. I strongly encourage him to work closely with us and focus on reducing the regulatory burdens our respective members face."
