Amended complaint filed in Home Depot breach suit

An amended complaint citing more than $150 million in damages to credit unions and community banks as a result of the 2014 Home Depot breach was filed Wednesday in federal district court in Atlanta, where the home-improvement store chain is headquartered.

The complaint, filed as a class action by more than 100 plaintiffs, notes the banks and credit unions affected by the breach hold, in the aggregate, "only a fraction" of credit and debit cards affected by the breach. Class members include, among others, financial institutions in 44 states and the District of Columbia.

The complaint seeks damages and injunctive relief requiring Home Depot to adhere to industry standards in the protection of cardholder data, among other things.
