NCUA warns of phishing scam

NCUA warned consumers not to respond to a new phishing scam in the form of a text message claiming to be from the agency and asking the recipient to call a number.

NCUA emphasized that it does not seek consumers' personal information over the internet or on the phone.

The agency also urged credit union members who have received these messages to contact NCUA's Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-755-1030 and to contact their credit unions and law enforcement.

NCUA also directed consumers to its online Fraud Prevention Center, which offers information on avoiding scams and fraud.
